Hello! I’m William ‘Coach Will’ Schinagl.
I’m a lifelong baseball lover and I offer private lessons in Central Florida.
Baseball Biography
Since the age of 5, I’ve found baseball as a sanctuary filled with fun, challenge, and excitement. Baseball didn’t always come easy but with the right preparations, dedication and hard work, I managed to achieve levels of success many don’t. Early in my competitive career, I posted numerous awards in high school including being a two-year varsity starter and an All-Conference player each of those years. I was awarded an 80% athletic scholarship to play ball at the University of St Francis, a top tier NAIA program in North Central Illinois. After a year there, I decided to take a shot at being noticed professionally. I transferred to Elgin Community College (ECC) where I beat out first year starters for jobs at both 3rd base and catcher while posting a team leading .394 batting average.
Out of ECC, I moved on to finish my college playing career at Concordia University – Chicago where, once again, I was challenged with beating out several established players for playing time. By the end of my first fall, I was the team’s starting catcher and 1st baseman. However, my defense wasn’t what made me stand out. In 87 games as a Cougar, I hit .318 (103 for 324) with 25 homeruns (career and single season (14) records) and drew sought-after professional attention.
Since finishing my college career in 2006, I have continued to play, missing only a handful of seasons since joining competitive adult men’s baseball leagues in Tampa and Orlando. I now serve as a youth baseball coach locally. My passion for baseball is matched by only a few and I firmly believe that a mindset of “Progress over perfection” and “Getting better everyday” can lead young, aspiring baseball players to the dreams they wish to achieve on a ball field, whether play as a part of a high school team all the way to playing professionally. The only thing standing in their way is the burning desire to work harder than the next guy.
